DESCRIPTION:

The site is very exposed in the Tuki Tuki valley and the decision was made to use Thermomass and to sink the lower level, containing 2 bedrooms and a service area, into the hill and mound behind the house to deflect the strong, cold wind.

The curved roofs were adopted to reflect the landscape. The views from the site are spectacular, into the back of Te Mata Peak and of the Tuki Tuki river. The house is oriented to capture these views and to optimize the northerly aspect.
