DESCRIPTION:
The house
is situated on a rural site with extensive
views of Hawkes Bay from Haumoana
to Paki Paki.
A spur ran
across the building site and this
was lowered to provide sufficient
area for the new house and surrounds.
Views from
the covered outdoor area, kitchen,
dining room, lounge, family room and
master bedroom were requested.

LOCATION
The site is on the
eastern side of the Tuki Tuki river
in an area which has become popular
for lifestyle living. The long driveway
to the house leads through vineyards
and open farmland.
CONSTRUCTION:
The house
is constructed on a concrete floor
slab with a wine cellar basement beneath
the service area. Structural walls
to the exterior and interior are compressed
earth (sand clay cement) blocks cored
to take reinforcement and services.
Ceilings to
living spaces, bedrooms and main hallway
are macrocarpa t g & vee on exposed
recycled rimu structural beaming and
truss structures.
The roof is
corrugated colorsteel.
All exterior joinery is Western Red
Cedar sashes and doors in macrocarpa
frames.
